Darwyn Cooke on Parker Adaptation

Those of you excited about Darwyn Cooke’s upcoming Parker comic book will want to check out this interview at Wizard Universe.

What draws me to the Parker books has to do with the decisions Stark made about his character. Parker is never meant to ingratiate himself to the reader in any way. He is completely self-motivated and amoral. Parker lacks all the conscience and social artifice that most people use to make sense of life. Stylistically, Stark has said he strove to create a narrative where Parker’s emotional state is deeply submerged and only revealed through physical action. Parker is a unique character and Stark’s lean stories basically invented a genre of crime fiction.

Sounds like he gets it.
