I’m excited that Wendell Pierce is involved in Parker. He’s a great actor and a regular in David Simon shows as The Bunk in The Wire and Antoine Baptiste in Treme. He’s entered my pantheon of actors worth watching. And while I know Michael Chiklis cleared his rep with The Shield, I’m always going to think of his portrayal of John Belushi in the horribly mystifying train wreck Wired. Still, looking forward to the new Parker film as each announcement makes one more curious to behold it….still not sure about Taylor Hackford, though, as I watched Love Ranch last week and was feeling that perhaps his best days are behind him….Big fan of The Idolmaker…not so much with his remake of Out Of The Past, Against All Odds….I think Steven Soderbergh would make an interesting choice, based on The Limey, his discussion with John Boorman on the commentary of Point Blank, and his direction of Elmore Leonard’s Out Of Sight…but that’s just off the top of my head. He seems to really ‘get’ the genre, so to speak.
