Limited edition Parker print by Darwyn Cooke

The Hero Initiative is the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterdays’ creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It’s a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.

Darwyn Cooke has created a limited edition (200) print of Parker to benefit this good cause. Mine is scanned above–as you can see, I got number sixty. Pisser that it arrived on Black Friday. I need to go pick up a frame for it but I do whatever I can to stay out of retail stores between today and the new year. Guess I’ll have to suck it up. Somehow, I think I’ll survive.

If you’d like one, they’re being sold through eBay. Price comes to $27 with shipping, and they throw in a free comic book. Haven’t read the comic to find out if it’s any good, but it does feature a story called “A View to a Pill,” which I love based on title alone. It’s also got a Neil Gaiman piece with some mighty pretty artwork.

Duran Duran – A View to a Kill

Ya know, this song really deserved a better video.
